Jean Morin, B.Ing.

Co-founder and CEO

Trained as an engineer, M. Morin started a career in finance in 1986. Initially an investment advisor, he quickly became branch manager and senior administrator within a national firm. In 2001, he joined CIBC Wood Gundy, where he became first vice-president and lead a team of professionals managing over 5 billon dollars of assets. He retired in 2018. Still active in both industry and his community, he currently sits on various governance, trading and disciplinary committees. In 2009, he created the Fonds Famille Jean Morin, a philanthropic effort to support the education and career of engineering students. He is an Abaxial co-founder and CEO.

Christian Iorio-Morin, MD, PhD, FRCS(C)

Co-founder and chief medical officer

Dr Iorio-Morin is a Canadian neurosurgeon. He completed his medical training at Université de Sherbrooke and a functional neurosurgery fellowship at the University of Toronto. In addition to his academic research work, he is highly involved in medical technological research and development. He worked for NASA's Johnson Space Center, consulted for the Canadian Space Agency, and founded medical pedagogy company Hyperexis. He is one of the instigator of the Programme de stages en génie biomédical du Fonds Famille Jean Morin funded by the Fondation de l'Université de Sherbrooke since January 2019. Dr Iorio-Morin is the co-founder and chief medical officer of Abaxial, managing all projects and providing medical guidance for the engineering team.

Serge Bergeron, P.Eng.

Engineering lead

M Bergeron is a mechanical engineer cumulating over 35 years of consulting services in the field of building engineering. From 1984 to 1993, he worked for various firms. From 1993 to 2001, he founded and chaired the success of Kelvin Consulting. From 2001 to 2014, he contributed to Kelvin-Emtech's expansion and strong reputation in the field of data centers. For 16 years, he has specialized in the design and construction of cooling systems for data centers. His experience includes feasibility studies, drawing up plans and specifications, as well as in procurement, pre-purchase and commissioning. He provided services to renowned clients such as Colo-D, Radio-Canada, Hydro-Québec, Mel's Studios, Global Vision, Cologix, SNC-Lavalin, IBM, Bell, iWeb, Ubisoft, Videotron, Telus, Rogers, Tata , Air Transat, Canix and many others. Since 2014, he provides expertise in class actions and litigation. He continues to be passionate about mission-critical projects and installations requiring robustness, reliability and redundancy. At Abaxial, Mr. Bergeron leads the development of the company's products.
